In Tijuana we have helped with building up the youth and their outreach ministry through a store-front “coffee house.” Kathie and a small group led a worship conference, attended by the leadership of eight area churches, focusing on different aspects of Biblical leadership and worship in 2007.
Erendira has been the hub of a number of the trips to Mexico. Brother Michael of Mission Acts has a small house for missionaries and we have worked alongside him to clean up the town and encourage the Bible teaching ministry of the Matthew Institute (Instituto Mateo) to the children of Erendira and the nearby labor camp. During several vacations, from 2005 to 2007, youth from the Kathie Howard & Friends Dance Team and Community Brethren Church have joined in leading Vacation Bible School in Erendira. The KH & F Band has joined in leading nightly worship services as well as building wooden benches and supporting the “Mateo” food ministry with donations from Gleanings.
In Rosarito, pastor Angel has built up a congregation from the surrounding hills, focused mainly on children. Kathie has a prayer ministry to the leadership, which has encouraged the growing church to be “built on the Rock.” Over the years, KHMM has taught Vacation Bible School and joined in leading Sunday worship. In the Spring of 2007, Kathie’s family joined in building bathrooms for the newly constructed church, replacing the outhouse that previously served the congregation.
